Coimbatore, India – The Salim Ali Centre for Ornithology and Natural History (SACON), under the South India Centre of the Wildlife Institute of India and the Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change, Govt. of India, will commemorate the 128th birth anniversary of Dr. Salim Ali, the renowned ornithologist. As part of the celebration, SACON will host the Salim Ali Memorial Lecture on the remarkable impact of citizen science beyond birding.
The lecture, titled Beyond Birding: The Remarkable Power of Citizen Science, will be delivered by Dr. Suhel Quader, a Senior Scientist from the Nature Conservation Foundation. Dr. Quader will highlight how citizen science initiatives contribute significantly to biodiversity conservation and research.
The event is scheduled for 15th November 2024, from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm at the Champion Hall, CASFOS Forest Campus, RS Puram, Coimbatore. This insightful lecture will honor Dr. Salim Ali’s legacy by promoting public engagement in environmental conservation.
