12th edition of Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon sets a new milestone with 21,000 participants

The 12th edition of Walkaroo Coimbatore Marathon powered by ELGi, the largest sporting event in Coimbatore was held in the city on Sunday with over 21,000 participants from Coimbatore and different parts of India, running for a noble cause.

Coimbatore Marathon brought to the city by Coimbatore Cancer Foundation (CCF) in association with Coimbatore Runners and Show Space Events is also a fundraiser to aid CCF in order to support cancer patients.

This is a world-class running event with 4 categories – a 21.1 km run (half marathon); a 10 km run; a 5 km run and a 5 km walk besides a corporate relay is recognised by the Tamil Nadu Athletic Association. All runs began and ended near Stanes School Grounds.

The half-marathon was flagged off by Kranthi Kumar Pati IAS, Coimbatore District Collector and

V.Balakrishnan IPS, Commissioner – Coimbatore City Police while former DGP of Tamil Nadu, C. Sylendra Babu flagged off the 10 km run in the presence of Dr.Balaji, Managing Trustee, CCF; V Noushad, Founder, Walkaroo and many other guests.

Thanks to the assistance from the Collector, Police Commissioner, Corp Commissioner and all Governmental agencies we could conduct a world class Marathon. A Big Thanks to our Event Partners and volunteers who make this event what it is, besides the great enthusiastic  participation of community of Kovai.

Mr. Ramesh Ponnuswami, Race Director said, “12th edition of the marathon has been a big success, a testament to the growing community of recreational long-distance runners, their passion and dedication to the sport.  Every successful event delivered is a very gratifying experience for my team, which has works for months to put this event together.  With constantly look for opportunities to improve and elevate the experience of our participants, making them want to come back every year, improve their performance, relish the experience, and spread the word around to help us grow the numbers.  We appreciate and thank the runners and express our gratitude towards the people of Coimbatore, the Police department, the Coimbatore Collectorate, the Coimbatore Corporation, and several organizations and volunteers for their continued support and patronage. Looking forward to seeing everyone again at the next edition in December 2025, which promises to be bigger and better.”
