2.8L applications received for monthly dole scheme in coimbatore
As many as 2.78 lakh applications have been received so far from the district for the Kalaignar Magalir Urimai Thogai scheme, the monthly dole scheme for women heads of families.
While 53,090 applications were received from Coimbatore north block, 34,251 were received from Sulur block, 29,462 from Pollachi block, 28,690 from Perur, 25,277 from Coimbatore south, 24,000 from Mettupalayam, 23,433 from Annur, 18,327 from Anamalai, 17,113 from Madukkarai, 16,023 from Kinathukadavu and 9,186 from Valparai, monitoring officer Jayashree Muralidharan said.
The district administration has been conducting 839 camps for the first phase of the scheme for the past one week. Money will be disbursed from September.
The officer chaired a meeting with officials from several departments on Friday to take stock of the developmental works under way in the district. Senior officials including Coimbatore collector Kranti Kumar Pati and corporation commissioner M Prathap attended the meeting. “Applications should be received from all eligible people for the
monthly dole scheme. Adequate awareness should be created about the second phase of the scheme,” she added.
