One-day National Seminar on “Emerging Trends in E-mobility” at PSG CAS

Department of Electronics [SF] organized one-day national seminar on “Emerging Trends in E-Mobility ” on 8th March 2025 at Podhigai Hall.  The welcome address was given by Dr. P. Nanda Kumar, Associate Professor & HOD, Department of Electronics [SF], PSGCAS. In his welcome address he gave the introduction of need of E-mobility and its present status.

The presidential address was delivered by  Dr. M. Senguttavan , Principal Incharge, PSGCAS, Cbe. In his speech he gave the developments occurred in the E-vehicle sector and the importance of it and the future development how it is going to occur in it. The felicitation address was given by  Dr. T. Kannaian, Secretary, PSGCAS, Cbe. In his address he told the importance of basic science fundamentals and the students should be strong in the fundamentals of the core area with an example of tree. That means in the tree root is the basic science, stem is the applied science area (engineering sector), leaves is the latest technology and the flower in the tree is nothing but the cutting edge technology.

&nbspAfter that the inaugural address was given by Dr. S. Chandrasekhar, Corporate Director, Roots Group of Companies, Coimbatore he is one of the alumnus of our college. In his inaugural address he stressed the importance of the development occurred in the E-mobility sector and the future development and opportunities in it. He also told the students to be strong in the basic skill developments in the core area, then only they can withstand in the company. He told the latest trend what is going in the E-mobility sector and why the government is more focussing on E-vehicle and its importance.

Vote of thanks was delievered by Dr. A. Shankar Ganesh, Associate Professor & UG Co-ordinator, Department of Electronics [SF], PSGCAS, Cbe. After that a small introduction about the “Trends in Electric Vehicles (EVs) – The Future of Mobility” by  Mr. THIRUMURUGAN of Pinnacle Lithium Power, Coimbatore.

&nbspAfter the inaugural session, the first technical session was delivered by Mr. V. Karthikeyan, Application Engineering (MATLAB), ARK Infosolution Private Limited, Chennai. In his talk he told how the battery management system can be modelled using MATLAB/SIMULINK. He also told the working principle of all the motors, inverters, converters, etc using the MATLAB/SIMULINK modelling.

The second technical session was delivered by Er. M. Shanmugham, General Manager, Roots India Ltd., Coimbatore on the topic “Power Electronics – Applications in EV”. In his speech he explained the concept and applications of power electronics in E-vehicle industry. He also told the students to learn more about the power electronics concepts and their applications.

The third technical session was delivered by Mr. Sayee Ganesh, CTO, GreenerG Mobility Solutions Pvt. Ltd., Coimbatore on the topic “EV Power Train Systems”. In his talk he explained the concepts of power train systems and its working principle. He also explained the assembling of the E-vehicle and what are the parts available in it and how they are connected to each ECU.

The valedictory session was started with a welcome address by Dr. D. Mahesh Kumar , Associate Professor, Dept. of Electronics, PSGCAS, Cbe. The valedictory address was given by Ms. Nivedha, Business Development Manager, AR4 Tech Private Limited, Coimbatore. In her valedictory address, she told the students how the electric vehicle conversion is taking place and for that what are the skills the students should know and learn it. She also stressed the importance of the E-vehicle conversion at today’s world without changing the model of the vehicle. Finally the overall vote of thanks was given by  Dr. BA. Anandhi, Associate Professor, Dept. of Electronics, PSGCAS.

Around 50 participants from various colleges registered and participated in this national seminar on “Emerging Trends in E-mobility”. On 7th March 2025 we displayed various E-vehicles by Tata Motors, Cbe and CAI Mahindra, Cbe to create awareness about the trends going on E-vehicle system.
