275 pairs of hooks worth Rs 20 lakh seized in Coimbatore

In Coimbatore, election flying squads seized 275 pairs of hooks they were trying to give to voters.

All parties are actively involved in the Coimbatore Corporation election campaign. Meanwhile, flying squads across the district are on 24-hour surveillance to prevent voters from being given cash and gift items.

They have so far seized up to Rs 10 crore. In this situation, in the 69th ward of Coimbatore Corporation, Kamarajapuram constituency, the ballot will be distributed to the voters at 10 am yesterday. Members of the Janata Party informed the Election Flying Corps officials.

Officers led by Central Zone Flying Squadron Deputy Tashildar Velmurugan confiscated the hooks from the spot and took them away. A total of 65 pairs of clasps were seized.

It was similarly alleged that he had hooks to distribute to voters at around 1pm in the Karpura Nagar area under the Kudalur municipality. The officers led by Deputy Dashildar Jayachitra went there.

They confiscated 210 pairs of hooks from the two-wheeler at the time. Authorities said the value of the 275 pairs of hooks seized was about Rs 20 lakh. Following this the hooks were handed over to the treasury.
