600 kg of ration rice seized for smuggling to Kerala
Pollachi Civil Supplies Criminal Investigation Department Inspector Gopinath has received confidential information that ration rice is being smuggled from Pollachi to Kerala.
Pro-investigators Thiagarajan, Bharat Nehru and officers and Vadakkipalayam Police Inspector Ganesamurthy and police conducted a vehicle search near the Prabhu Thottam bridge on Nadupuni Road, Kurumanthakaundanur.
Then they stopped and tested the car that was speeding that way. It was then revealed that the ration rice bundles were hidden in the back of the car and smuggled to Kerala.Investigations into the occupant of the car revealed that he was Vijayan, a worker from Mappillaigaundanputhur near Pollachi, who had smuggled ration rice to Kerala.
Following this, the police arrested Vijayan and confiscated 600 kg of ration rice and the car used for the smuggling which he was trying to smuggle to Kerala.
