A Total 29 College Students from Coimbatore Receive Certificates for Completing District Collector Internship Program
A total of 29 students from six colleges in Coimbatore including from Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) were awarded certificates by District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati after successfully completing the District Collector Internship Program (DCIP) on Wednesday, 11 December 2024.
The program, organized by the Coimbatore District Collectorate, lasted 45 days and allowed students to interact with government officials, identify challenges in specific government schemes, and propose solutions.
The students, accompanied by their mentors, met the collector at his office to receive their certificates. Dr. Vijila Edwin Kennedy, Principal of Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS), the host and partner institution for the program, shared that over 800 applications were received from across colleges, of which 40 students were shortlisted, and 29 successfully completed the internship.
This is the second consecutive year that KCLAS has partnered in hosting and supporting the initiative, which aims to nurture future leaders in governance and public administration.
District Collector Kranthi Kumar Pati congratulated the students on their achievement, emphasizing that the internship equips participants with essential skills such as research and public interaction. These skills, he noted, are valuable for careers in both the public and private sectors. He also highlighted that the program offers students practical experience in district administration, bridging the gap between academic knowledge and real-world applications.
Dr. N. Balu, Deputy Dean of KCLAS, received the certificates from the collector on behalf of the mentor faculty members.
