AIRSWEEE Workshop churns out women entrepreneurs in Coimbatore…

Coimbatore, March 1, 2017. After the successful completion of the first workshop at Warrangal by TiE GLobal, TiE Coimbatore under the (aegis of TiE Global) hosted a four day workshop from 27th February, 2017 in Coimbatore. The Project AIRSWEEE (All India Road Show on Women’s Economic Empowerment through Entrepreneurship) is fully funded by the US mission in India, US Department of State.

The program had 25 women entrepreneurs who went through multiple rigorous testing before being invited to undergo this 3 day workshop. The program had entrepreneurs of all kinds, diverse background and some as far from Pudukottai.

Ms. Seema Chaturvedi, Chairwoman of Project AIRSWEEE and a former member of TIE Global’s Board of Trustees said “Our objective of the workshop is to empower aspiring young women in Tier II and Tier III cities in India. Empowering potential women entrepreneurs is a great way to boost economic growth. This project teaches women to stay in their environments and improve them from within by seeing problems as opportunities to create successful entrepreneurial solutions.”

Ms. Hemalatha Annamalai, the entrepreneur from Coimbatore, who was a mentor for the sessions all the three days was all praise for the aspiring women and she added that the response was overwhelming and the fact that this was a competitive selection process made it very special for them.

Dr. Craig L Dicker, Counsellor of Cultural Affairs, Embassy of United States of America, New Delhi who was here to attend and mentor was full of praise for the participants and also the way it was conducted. He said “ensuring that women play a central role in entrepreneurial sector is critical to evolve a vibrant, dynamic startup ecosystem, The women participating in this weeks program exemplify the tremendous potential and impact that women can play in creating a entrepreneur friendly environment in India. We are happy to have partnered with TiE Global and TiE Coimbatore in conducting this workshop here in Coimbatore.”

During the press interaction to a question on the differences of the attendees in terms of tier 1 and tier 2 / 3 towns, Ms Komal Goyal, Managing Director, Partner 6E Technologies, said there was a difference in terms of the understanding and exposure the women had about entrepreneurship. She was also a lead mentor along with Ms. Seema Chaturvedi and Ms. Annamalai.
