The prison is called ‘Alcatraz Prison’ and is located on Alcatraz Island off the coast of San Francisco, California. Alcatraz Prison opened in 1934 but closed in 1963 due to high maintenance costs. Now this prison is used as a museum, which is visited by millions of people every year.

Surrounded by strong security arrangements and the cold waters of the San Francisco Bay on all sides, this prison was considered the strongest prison in the United States and no prisoner could escape. America’s most dangerous prisoners are said to be incarcerated in this prison from which they cannot escape.

Despite a total of 36 inmates trying to escape from the prison’s 29-year history, 14 of them were caught, some killed by police bullets. Some drowned. Police could not even find the bodies of the five detainees.

In June 1962, three prisoners, Frank Morris, John Anglin, and Clarence Anglin, reportedly tried to escape from the prison. The information is contained in a letter received by the police several years later. Police later searched for him, but could not find him, so it was reported that he may have drowned in the cold water after he escaped from prison.
