A request was raised from parents and students to distribute the NCERT books free of cost for NEET preparation. To get admission to medical colleges, one needs to secure high marks in the National Eligibility cum Entrance Test (NEET)
For this exam, NCERT books are the base, from which most of the questions will be framed. So, a student who learns the SCERT syllabus should also practice NCERT to crack the NEET exam.
CBSE follows NCERT books in their regular stream, but state board and Government school students have to undertake separate coaching classes to cover the NCERT syllabus.
The cost of affording the NCERT books is huge, so a learning inequality builds among the students. In the ADMK period, free coaching classes were started and now people want the ruling government to distribute books at zero cost to fill the gap.
“This initiative will make Tamil Nadu students score high in NEET examinations and the idea of NEET exclusion for Tamil Nadu will be wiped out”, a group statement from the parents has made to think on the request.
