The World Badminton Championships are being held in Spain from December 12. Kidambi Srikanth and Lakshaya Sen advanced to the semi-finals of the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Although it was a pleasure, at the end of the semifinals there was a situation where only one person could enter the final. That means Indian players Kidambi and Lakshya Sen will have to clash against each other.
The semi-final between the two took place on Saturday. The heat flew on this match. In a match that lasted an hour and 9 minutes, Kitambi won. Although Lakshya Sen lost the first set, he bounced back in the next two rounds.
In the end, Kitambi Srikanth, who defeated Lakshaya Chennai 17-21, 21-14, 21-17, became the first Indian to advance to the World Badminton Finals in the men’s singles category.
Prior to this, Prakash Padukone in 1983 and Sai Praneeth in 2019 were eliminated from the World Badminton Semifinals. Kidambi will face Loh Kean Yew in the final tonight. The Singaporean has reached the final by beating the top 5 players in the previous rounds.
If he falls, Kitambi Srikanth will be the first Indian to win gold in the men’s category at the World Badminton Championships. In 2019, Indian player PV Sindhu won the World Badminton Championship title in search of glory.
