A famous ice cream parlour in Coimbatore was sealed after authorities found it mixing alcohol in desserts.

A team of the Food Safety and Standards Authority of India ( FSSAI) made a surprise visit to Rolling Dough Cafe at PN palayam on the Avinashi Road on Wednesday based on a complaint received by health minister Ma. Subramanian.

They found that various hygienic procedures were ignored by laborers of the ice cream parlour.

When questioned, two staff of the ice cream parlour admitted that they used to mash alcohol in desserts, flouting food safety norms.

Alcohol was allegedly blended in two desserts – caramel custard and dark chocolate and used containers of brandy and whiskey were recouped from the parlour.

The staff of the parlour who were preparing food did not have a medical fitness certificate.

Also, the staff in the kitchen were not wearing masks and gloves. The ice cream parlour was sealed by the Food Safety Department officials in the presence of revenue officials.

Every shop vendor should respect their customers. They are paying for the product they needed. Cheating your customer is not all good.

Once you break your trust among customers you will not gain it again.. Everyone never gets one more chance.

A grievance at FSSAI can be made either through a toll free no- 1800112100, Whatsapp/SMS on 9868686868, through email: compliance@fssai.gov.in.
