Blood Centre Equipment Donation to the Indian Red Cross Society Coimbatore
The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Satellite, in collaboration with Rotary Clubs of Coimbatore Central, East, Zenith, Spectrum, Unicorns, and the Rotary Foundation, inaugurated the donation of advanced blood collection, storage, and processing equipment worth ₹67.5 Lakhs to the Indian Red Cross Society’s Dana Red Cross Blood Centre, Kavundampalayam, Coimbatore.
Dr. Nandini Rangasamy, Chairperson, Indian Red Cross Society, Coimbatore during the media interaction said, “This initiative will help the people in this part of the District and Western TN. With an outlay of over Rs. 6 crores overall, this is one of the most sophisticated stand alone blood bank that we have in Coimbatore with equipment’s that are state of the art. We are happy to collaborate with Rotary for this wonderful initiative that will save a lot of lives. The service at this center will be at a very affordable cost to the people requiring blood.”
Rtn. MD. T.R. Vijayakumar, Immediate Past District Governor was the Chief Guest and Rtn. MD. Chella K. Raghavendran, District Rotary Foundation Committee Chair, was the Guest of Honour. Mr. Mohan Shankar, of Sankar Associates also took part in the ceremony.
This donation is part of a sustainable, long-term project designed to meet the blood supply needs of hospitals in Coimbatore and nearby regions. The facility has the capacity to process over 1,000 donors monthly and store 1,000 units of blood at any given time.
The advanced equipment ensures that blood collection, storage, and processing are conducted in a safe and efficient manner. This initiative addresses the critical demand for blood and its components, thereby saving countless lives.
The Rotary Club of Coimbatore Satellite and its collaborators have set a new benchmark in community-driven healthcare support through this impactful initiative.
