An announcement was made in the Legislative Assembly that as the number of minibusses operating in Chennai is low, additional minibusses will be operated to carry Metro Rail passengers. It was also informed at that time that out of 210 minibusses in the Chennai Municipal Transport Corporation, only 66 minibusses were operating.
In Chennai, the use of minibusses has been reduced and the remaining 144 minibusses have been stopped due to financial loss. At present, it is proposed to run these minibusses from other areas to metro rail stations to make the best use of them.
In this context, Chief Minister MK Stalin today (Tuesday) inaugurated the service of 12 minibusses from Chennai Metro stations. Mini-buses will be operated at Alandur Airport, Coimbatore, and Tiruvottiyur Metro stations.
