Citizen Consumer Club of KCLAS awarded best in the district by Collector
Citizen Consumer Club of Kumaraguru College of Liberal Arts and Science (KCLAS) secured first place in the district for taking up various initiatives towards creating public awareness on consumer rights.
District Collector Mr Kranti Kumara Pati gave the award to the members of CCC KCLAS at an event organized at the collector office as part of world consumer rights day celebrations.
Consumer clubs are created in colleges with the purpose of injecting knowledge and skills related to consumer rights among college students and to impart knowledge on product standards, product quality and about markets. It will also make students aware of laws enacted for protection of consumers and enforcement authorities concerned.
The purpose of the club is to empower with knowledge and awareness in consumer related issues prepares the student to face the world with confidence backed by knowledge, create awareness about consumer laws and equip the students with life skills enabling them to lead better lives.
The Citizen Consumer Club has been organizing awareness events sensitizing students on preventing wastage of food and reducing usage of plastics.
Students have also composed a song (Villupattu) on fair digital finance in Tamil to educate rural people on the merits and demerits of the technology used for banking transaction.
