Speaking in the Lok Sabha, Minister of State for Civil Aviation Minister VK Singh said that 20 airports in India including Coimbatore would be privatised under the PPP( Public-Private Partnership) scheme.
DMK MP TR Balu has raised various questions to the Civil Aviation Minister regarding the privatisation of airports in India. In that case, he specifically asked to point out whether the international airports in Tamil Nadu would come under that.
Responding to this, Minister of State for Civil Aviation VK Singh said in the Parliament, “From 2022 to 2025, 25 airports in the country are to be handed over to the private sector for efficient operation and better management.
The 25 airports to be handed over to the private sector under the Public-Private Partnership scheme include Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore and Chennai airports in Tamil Nadu”.
The other airports include Nagpur, Varanasi, Dehradun, Indore, Vijayawada Calicut, Bhubaneshwar, Patna, Tirupati, Ranchi, Jodhpur, Raipur, Rajahmundry, Vadodara, Amritsar, Surat among others, the minister said in his response to the lower house.
