Coimbatore city police got an appreciation for the effective implementation of e-governance:

e-governance

The Coimbatore city police have received a certificate of appreciation for the effective implementation of e-governance in the last two months.

The city police filed more than 11,000 files through the e-Office application in December to secure the number one position. “We aim to achieve paperless administration,” said commissioner of police Pradip Kumar. “We filed 9,975 files on e-Office in November and 11,316 in December.”

The Tamil Nadu e-Governance Agency (TNeGA) had introduced e-Office, a set of applications for conducting office procedures electronically.

It enables electronic file management for speedy disposals of files, resulting in better utilisation of manpower, thereby avoiding delays and leading to better governance.

The objective of e-Office is to eliminate the use of paper and to make most of the office communication electronic. This application ensures transparency. Senior officers can check files from one place and also check pendency.

The e-Office was introduced for the Coimbatore city police in March 2020. The office of the DGP announced in October 2021 that the first three ranks will be taken for an account every month based on the number of files disposed of.
