The work of enumerating the shopping complexes and shops owned by the Corporation of Coimbatore that have pending rental dues is in full swing.

Coimbatore Corporation has five zones namely Central, East, West, North and South. These zones have corporation-owned shopping complexes. It has more than 2,000 stores. It has been alleged that more than 200 shops operating in the corporation’s business premises have been operating without paying rent to the corporation for several months.

This has resulted in a loss of revenue to the corporation administration.
According to a corporation official, “The administration has begun the process of sorting out the shops owned by the Coimbatore corporation that have pending rental dues for several months.

Notices will be posted in these shops and legal action will be taken against them. The rent will be deducted from the amount deposited in the corporation,” he said.
