The Coimbatore Corporation administration plans to intensify corona restrictions to control the spread of the mutant variant coronavirus Omicron, in the shops and shopping zones of Coimbatore.
The coronavirus variant Omicron is spreading across the country. More than 30 people in Tamil Nadu have been infected with the Omicron virus. More than 30 people have been affected in Kerala as well.
Following this, corona prevention regulations have been intensified along the Kerala state border in the Coimbatore district.
Although no one has been infected with the Omicron virus in the Coimbatore district so far, various activities have been intensified on behalf of the district and the corporation administration.
As part of this, the corporation administration has ordered the owners of commercial establishments in the shopping areas including Oppanakara Street, Crosscut Road, 100 ft Road, Gandhipuram, Townhall, Ukkadam to operate the shops by strictly adhering to the COVID protocols.
According to a corporation official, “Employees working in shops, shopping malls and commercial establishments must have compulsorily administered two doses of the corona vaccine. The shop owners must ensure not just employees but also the customers whether they have administered two doses of vaccines,” he said.
Coimbatore Corporation asked people to maintain social distance and continue to wear masks in public places.
