Coimbatore Metro Rail

A recent survey was conducted on the implementation of the 144 km long metro rail project in Coimbatore.

Following this, soil testing work is currently in progress. The proposed Metro rail project of 144 km will cover 26 km from Kaniyur to Ukkadam, 24 km from Pollachi to Ukkadam, 44 km from Ganesapuram, Karunya Nagar to Ukkadam 8 km from Vellalore bus stand to the Ukkadam bus stand The long-distance metro rail project is to be carried out.

A total of 144 km. The survey was conducted with the help of satellites in various areas including Avinashi Road, Bigbazaar Street, Ukkadam and areas near the Coimbatore Collectorate.

Following this, soil testing works are being carried out in various parts of Coimbatore including Gandhipuram and Avinashi Road in connection with the Metro Rail project. The first phase project report will be prepared after the completion of the soil testing work, officials said.

Metro rail projects provide larger economic and social benefits to the society in terms of reduction in cost and time of travel, a substantial reduction in per capita pollution emissions resulting in a reduction in chronic diseases, reduction in road accidents, bringing down noise pollution etc.

As Coimbatore has many industries, workers, office goers, students will get benefited if the metro rail is implemented.
