Southern Railway administration has on Saturday issued orders to resume the train services between Pollachi and Coimbatore via Kinathukadavu and Podanur, which were halted due to the COVID 19 outbreak.
Coimbatore-Palani-Coimbatore would be operated from November 10, Coimbatore-Pollachi-Coimbatore train would be operated from November 13 and the Palakkad-Pollachi-Palakkad train would be operated from November 14. Rail commuters have been under great distress as the train service was stopped. Demands were put forth from various quarters on behalf of the passengers to resume the train which was operating between Coimbatore and Palani via Pollachi and Kinathukidavu. In this context, based on the request of the Pollachi Train Passengers’ Welfare Association, Kinathukadavu MLA Damodaran conducted a surprise inspection at the Kinathukadavu railway station on Saturday.
A similar request was made to restore the operation of all the trains that were in operation previously during the erstwhile meter gauge system. The demand included the extension of all services including Mettupalayam-Coimbatore electric train services to Pollachi and to reopen Kovilpalayam and Chettipalayam railways stations which were earlier operational.
The come back of train service is overwhelmed with joy by the passengers as it makes their travel more comfortable.
