To promote road safety and spread awareness about the importance of wearing helmets, Anaamalais Toyota Coimbatore, in partnership with Uyir—a NGO dedicated to road safety—organized a Bike Rally from PRS Grounds to CODISSIA Grounds in Coimbatore on Sunday. The rally attracted an impressive turnout of 600 bikers.
It was held in association with the 17th edition of Coimbatore Vizha. The rally was flagged off by Rajkanna, DC – Armed Reserve; Ashok Kumar, DC – Traffic; and Ravichandran, Addl. DC – Traffic, Coimbatore City in the presence of Arun Senthilnathan, Chair of Coimbatore Vizha 2024; Co-Chairs Saumya Gayathri and Saritha Lakshmi; Chandrashekhar, Trustee, and Subramanian and Natarajan, Committee Members, Uyir.
Riders and pillion passengers donned helmets and maintained a steady, measured pace over the 11-kilometer route, effectively conveying the importance of helmet use and responsible riding to onlookers.
Rajkanna, DC- Armed Reserve, Coimbatore City, praised the organizers, noting that events like these foster enthusiasm among youth while educating them about road safety, helmet use, and safe driving practices.
Ashok Kumar, DC-Traffic opined that a bike ride can be enjoyable even at a slower pace. Speed isn’t the only way to enhance the experience. “Slow down and enjoy the ride is the takeaway message,” he said.
