Computer Society of India – Coimbatore Chapter Installs New Office Bearers


The Coimbatore Chapter of the Computer Society of India (CSI) held its annual Installation Ceremony on Wednesday, April 10th, 2024, at 6:00 PM. The event, held at the CSI Hall of CSI Coimbatore Chapter marked the official induction of office bearers for the 2024-25 year.

Mr.R.Murali, Outgoing Chairman welcomed the Chief Guest, Mr. Balakumar Thangavelu, India Head – Outreach, Employee Volunteering (CSR) at Cognizant Technology Solutions. Mr.Bala delivered a captivating keynote address, setting the tone for the chapter’s upcoming year. He mentioned various Digital Initiatives that CSI could undertake in the areas of environment, education and healthcare.

The new office bearers who will guide the CSI Coimbatore Chapter for the 2024-25 term are:
Chairman: Mr. Saravana Kumar R, Social Entrepreneur and Former Director at Cognizant Technology Solutions.

Vice Chairman: Dr. Venkatesan L, Director Placements at United Educational Institutions, Coimbatore.

Secretary: Dr. E.K. Girisan, Associate Professor & Head, Department of Computer Technology, Sri Krishna Adithya College of Arts & Science, Coimbatore.

Treasurer: Mr. Rajasekhar M S, Chartered Accountant

Chairman Mr.Saravana Kumar briefly explained the initiatives for the year 2024-24. The key initiatives
proposed were:
1.Knowledge Sharing and Skill Development by Subject Matter Experts and by passionate aspiring students
2.Faculty Development Programs on Soft Skills and Emerging Technologies
3.Industry Expert Workshops
4.CSI Regional Level initiatives for engaging school students thru Quiz programs and Model Exams
5.Digitally empowering Visually Challenged students

The event drew a large and enthusiastic audience, including computer engineers, entrepreneurs, faculty members, and students from Engineering and Arts & Science Colleges across Coimbatore. This gathering of the local tech community fostered a vibrant atmosphere of collaboration and knowledge sharing.

The ceremony concluded with a vote of thanks delivered by Dr. E.K. Girisan, followed by the National Anthem. The CSI Coimbatore Chapter looks forward to a productive year under the leadership of the new office bearers.
