Csk vs KKR the final of IPL 2021 was a much-anticipated game of the year. The way both the teams reached the final was unique and incredible in their way.

CSK known for being a successful franchise was the first team to get eliminated in 2020 which broke lots of fans’ hearts. There were claims about the age factor as half of the CSK squad has retired players.

Msd made a statement that they would come back strong next year. No major changes were about the retired players in the squad this season too except for Gaikwad and everyone expected what can be the turnaround possible with the same team who performed badly last season.

With Gaikwad and Faf becoming top run-scorer of the season. CSK roared back strong this year with ample support from bravo’s slower bowling technique and Jadeja taking up the finishing department and the supreme captaincy of MSD.

KKR on the other hand had only 2/7 wins in the first half of the season. They had a new boost in the form of Venkatesh Iyer’s opening. With gill coming back to form they went on to have consecutive wins in the second half and managed to enter the final from being bottom of the table in the first half.

The spin Duo Narine and Varun were almost unplayable for all batsmen in Sharjah pitches with Ferguson bagging lots of wickets.

The final opened Kkr’s way with an expected quote in Dubai that any captain who wins the toss will field first. All eyes were on both team openers because they were the key reason for both their teams.

Gaikwad and Faf opened cool with another good partnership with no wicket in power play. After Gaikwad fell for 34 the knock-out game surprise for Csk this year Uthappa continued his good touch from qualifier into the finals and made a crucial knock followed by Moen Ali who played a similar knock as Uthappa and boosted the strike rate.

Ask cleverly rotated strike for d dangerous Kkr spin Duo and even smashed them too in end overs with Faf batting 20 overs full and making a big 89 on the final day.

The target of 193 in a final game is never easy for any team and KKR opened with class with no wickets in the first ten overs. V.Iyer smashes Csk bowlers all around the ground despite a dropped catch making his fifty and gill who was playing subtle too made his 50.

Catch of Venkatesh Iyer was given not out as the ball was seen hitting d wire of a spider Cam which seemed never happened before in IPL and Msd was disappointed with umpires. KKR were on a way to win the game till half innings and Csk were desperate for a wicket.

There came the game-changer, Thakur, in 12th over removed  V.Iyer and Rana in same over and opened the winning door for Csk. KKR’s game turned upside down from that over and the remaining batsman’s scores were just like a pin code after that. The deep batting depth of Kkr failed to shine and each batsman went out for single-digit scores  and Kkr went out of the game in a span of hardly fifteen mins.

With the ninth wicket, batsman making some good hits and Thakur bowling wides and no ball at the end, the final gave some unnecessary drama at the end. But the chase looked anytime impossible and Csk ended up winning their fourth title with a good margin.

Csk is known to have a bad record in finals with three wins and five loses before made it four wins from here as a compliment. Smiles and yellows all around were bliss to witness with bravo and Jadeja singing the champion song.

The moment all were waiting for was is this Msd’s last IPL for Csk and the commentator didn’t miss to ask that to him after he praised Kkr for their comeback. Captain cool replied generously that it’s not about retaining me, it’s about retaining players who will be good for the next ten years in Csk. When asked about are you proud of the legacy you left behind for Csk and he replied “I’ve not yet left behind ” and that line made the day for all Msd and Csk fans.

Witnessing the Indian captain Ganguly who paved the root for a good Indian cricket team giving the trophy to the successful Indian captain Msd was the moment of the day and Msd added another feather to his cap with the fourth IPL trophy.

With lots of changes expected in the next IPL with two new teams and a new mega auction, kudos to UAE management for conducting the tournament amidst the covid pandemic.

Kudos to Csk the champions of 2021 IPL and can’t wait for the world cup T20 starting in UAE from Oct 16 Sunday. Dhoni will act as a mentor for the Indian team and best wishes for Kohli and Co to lift the trophy.
