Demolition of 40 houses in CMC Colony

CMC for construction of Coimbatore flyover 40 houses was demolished in the colony. It is also planned to set up a park in the vacant lot. Overpasses are being constructed at Avinashi Road, Trichy Road and Ukkadam in view of the increasing traffic congestion in Coimbatore.

Work on the Ukkadam-Aathup Bridge was started in 2018. The flyover is being constructed in two phases at a cost of Rs 430 crore. Ukkadam Lakshmi Narasimhar Temple to Ukkadam Periyakulam and Phase 2 to Ukkadam Periyakulam to Athuppalam.

A roundabout will be set up near the Ukkadam Police Station for vehicles travelling from Pollachi and Kuniyamuthur to Oppanakkara Road.

For this, the CMC It was decided to demolish the houses and laundry workers’ houses that had been occupied and built in the colony. Alternative houses have been allotted to the residents here in the grassland area on behalf of the Housing Replacement Board.

The occupied houses that are being vacated are being gradually demolished. In the colony, 40 houses were demolished by a Bokline machine in the presence of Corporation Assistant Urban Planning Officer Babu and State Highways Department officials.

The Highways Department said: –
Sugarcane Shop, CMC for construction of Ukkadam flyover A total of 5 acres of land is to be acquired in the areas including the colony. Up to 3 acres of land has been acquired. CMC There are a total of 721 families in the colony.

Of these, 304 families have been evacuated so far. In addition, housing is being built for 429 families near the fish market on behalf of the Housing Board. The landing of the flyover will be circular in a place where the occupation has now been removed.
