The awareness programme on the prevention of dengu fever was organized for the NSS volunteers of Tamil Nadu Agricultural University (TNAU) by the Directorate of Students Welfare on 22-7-2017 in association with Sanitary Office, TNAU.
Dr. A. Vijayakumar, Director, Students Welfare presided over the meeting. Dr. K. Santhoshkumar, City Health Officer, Coimbatore explained dengue and preventive measures in details including the mosquito which is responsible for the fever, its life cycle and harbouring sources with power point presentation.
Th. K.V. Thirumal, Sanitary Officer and Th. R. Radhakrishnan, Sanitary Inspector demonstrated the source material and explained its detection to avoid the mosquito breeding to prevent spread of dengue fever.
Later, NSS volunteers went to the staff quarters and explained the need to maintain the environment clean in and around the residence to prevent dengue fever and also distributed leaflets on dengue fever to the inmates.
