Dr. Tijo Varghese wins Merlin Award, the Magicians’ Oscar!
Dr. Tijo Varghese hailing from Coimbatore, received the Merlin Award from World President Mr. Tony Hassini From International Magician Society in a ceremony held in Bangkok, Thailand on 5th December 2022.
In a glittering ceremony with over 1500 magicians and art enthusiasts in attendance Dr. Tijo Varghese was awarded Merlin Award for his performance and his relentless service to the art and community. He has over 125 World Records and over 400 Awards from the State and National organisations for his magic shows and his work for the magician’s community and general public.
The Merlin Award is presented to those magicians who have achieved the highest level in their craft, both on the national and international stage. The criteria that the voting members consider are talent, showmanship, originality, skills, and above all the rare ability to entertain under any conditions.
Tijo Varghese said he was happy that he has got the Award which was given to Sircar, and other world-renowned magicians from India and this was the first time that an Award was given to India for performance category in 2022. This puts him in the ranks of some of the best magicians India has ever seen.
The International Magicians society ( IMS)Tony hassini Instituted by the IMS has over 57000 professional magicians as members all over the world.
Speaking to YourCoimbatore.com he said, “The prestigious award was given to me for my outstanding performance in magic and contribution to the art, I believe this award is the strongest of them all, it’s a proud moment that am the 4th magician from Kerala and 8th from India to receive the prestigious Merlin award popularly known “Oscar of Magic .”
