Elections for 21 ward councilors in Valparai municipality will be held on the 19th. Due to this various election activities are being carried out on behalf of the municipal administration. As part of this, 3 flying squads have been set up and intensive vehicle testing is underway.
As the election day draws near, the Flying Squadron officers, on the orders of the Election Observer and the Returning Officer, are paying close attention to vehicle inspections in anticipation that candidates may come forward to hand out cash and gift items to voters.
A team led by Sub-Inspector Velmurugan, led by Election Flying Corps Officer Jagadeesan, is conducting intensive checks on all two-wheelers, autos, vegetables and groceries carrying groceries in the section leading to Moody’s Estate near the Valparai New Bus Stand area.
They are also confiscating more than Rs 50,000 without proper documents.
