The eligibility certificate of 12 government buses was canceled following a study by regional transport officials. The bus, whose roof was in a state of disrepair, was sent back to the workshop.
Buses are operated from Pollachi to outstations and surrounding villages on behalf of the State Transport Corporation. In the meantime, the Fitness of Buses is inspected once a year and certified by the Regional Transport Office. Apart from this, a special audit is carried out every 6 months for buses operating in hilly areas.
Under the leadership of Regional Transport Officer Muruganantham, Motor Vehicle Inspector Jayanthi and State Transport Corporation Bus Stand Manager Ramkumar inspected the buses. Is the roof of the bus in disrepair? Is the inside clean? That study was conducted. Then the town bus from Pollachi to Gopalapuram came to a halt. When the bus was inspected by the authorities, the roof of the bus was found to be faulty. There were also cracks inside.
The eligibility certificate of 12 buses has been canceled. Appropriate maintenance work should be carried out on those buses within 7 days. The bus will then be inspected and re-certified. Buses that have similarly been found to have some defects are advised to have them repaired within 10 days.
