Coimbatore logged its first Omicron case on Friday after a 69-year-old man tested positive for the mutant variant. He has been under testament at the ESI government Hospital in the city.
The 69-year-old man who came to Coimbatore from the United Kingdom on December 20 was diagnosed with COVID 19. Further testing carried out on him confirmed the presence of S gene genetic mutation.
After being under home quarantine, he is currently being treated at the ESI Hospital for treatment. It is noteworthy that he has already been vaccinated two times with the Covshield vaccine.
According to reports, his health is stable and he had mild throat irritation yesterday.People should be aware of wearing masks and maintain social distance in public places.
