Flyover and drainage works in Coimbatore worsen traffic congestion affects people:
With the work to construct flyover and drainage works going in the arterial roads in the city would further get congested for vehicular traffic.
Flyover works are underway in all the arterial roads in the city, including Trichy Road, Ukkadam -Athupalam Road and Mettupalayam Road. Avinashi Road was the only road that had relatively less traffic congestion. For the next four years, even this road would see traffic congestion till the completion of the flyover construction.
As a result, smaller roads would get congested as vehicles would start using them to avoid Avinashi Road. Heavy traffic jams were witnessed in the morning and evening as people, office goers and students used the roads.
People complain that they are not going to their destination peacefully because of the heavy crowd. Coimbatore corporation should look into this issue and do some alternative measures to ease traffic congestion which will reduce accidents too.
