‘Makkalai thedi maruthuvam’ new health care scheme was launched in Coimbatore by Tamilnadu’s minister of forests K. Ramachandran as reported by THE HINDU
State’s Health care initiative
The doorstep healthcare scheme to provide essential services for the people in the state. One of the DMK’s promise during the election campaign is executed. A team comprises of trained women health workers, nurses, physiotherapists will reach out to people for diagnosing and treating their ailments.
The tests for Non-communicable and lifestyle diseases such as Anemia, Diabetes, Hypertension, Kidney diseases in adults(above45), and Birth related defects in children will be carried out. The needy will be enrolled in the social welfare register. For them, free medicines will be provided every month.
Most of the lifestyle diseases are left undiagnosed and treated because of their cost. The state’s motto is to provide a quality life for all in the state. The welcomed move is the first of its kind in the country.
