The Russian space agency Roscosmos announced on Saturday that seven people at the International Space Station (ISS) and three at the Chinese station Diangong were celebrating the New Year, the first New Year’s celebrated in space.
“The 2022 bloom was celebrated by ten people in near-Earth orbit, with a total of 10 people celebrating the New Year, seven at the International Space Station and three at the Chinese Tiankong space station,” Roscosmos said in a statement on its website.
“It simply came to our notice then that we were celebrating the New Year.”A historic achievement in space exploration that carried humans,” Roscosmos said.
