Recalling the collapse of the Soviet Union three decades ago, Russian President Vladimir Putin described the event as the demise of “historically significant Russia.” Putin, who is currently Russia’s powerful leader, said that Russia’s economic crisis after the event had worsened and that he too had worked for some time as a taxi driver.
Vladimir Putin’s comments on state television on Sunday are said to further heighten his critics’ speculation about foreign policy intentions. It is already widely rumored that Vladimir Putin intends to rebuild the former Soviet Union and take steps to invade Ukraine.
Putin also said that he was personally affected by the economic crisis that followed the collapse of the Soviet Union when Russia was experiencing the worst inflation.
