The International e-waste Day (IEWD) is celebrated on 14 October every year since 2018, to promote the correct disposal of e-waste throughout the world with the aim to increase re-use, recovery, and recycling rates 2021 is the fourth edition of the International E-waste Day.
The goal of International e-waste Day is to raise awareness about the global problem of electronic waste and what can be done to address it.
E-waste Day was first observed in 2018. Maharashtra ranks highest among the states followed by Andhra Pradesh, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, West Bengal, Delhi, and Karnataka in the amount of e-waste generated. Mumbai, the business capital of the country, produces the most e-waste at 96,000 metric tonnes (MT) every year.
The environment is our collective responsibility and we should all do our bit to preserve it and adopt sustainable measures.
