Star all-rounder Hardik Pandya has been named as the captain of the Ahmedabad team for the Indian Premier League (IPL) 2022. Hardik Pandya played for the Mumbai Indians (MI) for many years and was a key player for that team. However, the trio did not retain Hardik Pandya in this year’s mega auction.
Mumbai have retained captain Rohit Sharma, fast bowler Jaspreet Bumra, Suryakumar Yadav and West Indies’ Kieran Pollard. Apart from Hardik, Ishant Kishan, Krunal Pandya and Trent Bolt have also been put up for auction.
The trio are expected to be involved in an effort to bring many of these players back into the team. Meanwhile, Ahmedabad, a newcomer to the IPL this year, have reportedly picked Hardik Bania in their squad.
Also, Afghanistan are planning to sign leg-spinner Rashid Khan and young Indian wicketkeeper-batsman Ishant Kishan to their squad. According to reports, Ashish Nehra is likely to be appointed as the head coach. Nehra previously coached the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) team in the Indian Premier League (IPL).
Also, some reports say that Vikram Solanki will be the director of the team and Gary Kirsten will be the mentor. The IPL auction is said to be held in Bangalore next month.
