The forest department is reopening Kovai Kutralam for visitors from Tuesday (Aug 8), as the water flow is now at a normal level. The waterfall was closed on July 4 following heavy water flow, following rains.
Given that there has not been any notable rain in recent days, the forest department made use of the opportunity to clean the waterfalls’ surroundings. An official said workers were engaged in clearing bushes and pruning tree branches around the dressing rooms. Some portions of the steps leading to the waterfalls, which were broken, have also been fixed, he added.
He further urged visitors to help the department maintain cleanliness and avoid using plastic in and around the waterfalls.
