Dr. V.P. Yathees Kumar, Assistant Archaeologist from the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI), Tiruchirappalli Circle, delivered the keynote address, focusing on “Archaeological Excavations on the Banks of the Tamiraparani River”. His insightful presentation delved into the findings at Adichanallur and Sivakalai, two major archaeological sites.

He discussed how these excavations shed light on the ancient Tamiraparani civilization and its connections to the Pandya dynasty’s old ports, Korkai and Alagankulam.

Dr. Yathees Kumar also revealed that artifacts from Adichanallur are being prepared for exhibition at the Porunai Archaeological Museum in Tirunelveli, showcasing evidence of an ancient civilization that dates back several millennia.

He emphasized the use of advanced scientific methods to accurately determine the age of these artifacts, enabling a deeper understanding of Tamil Nadu’s rich cultural heritage.
