Leopards roaming at night near a private college campus in Coimbatore’s Kuniyamuthur area have caused panic among the public.

The public had informed the forest department that leopards were roaming near residential areas in Pillayarpuram, Kovaipudur, Kuniyamuthur and PK Pudur adjoining the Madukkarai forest area in Coimbatore.

In this situation, a leopard came from the backside of a private college near Kuniyamuthur in Coimbatore last night and killed the dog there. College staff who saw this in the morning immediately informed the forest department. Foresters who arrived at the spot examined the leopard’s footprints.

The officials are currently monitoring leopard movements in those areas. CCTV footage of the leopard in the same area a few days ago has now been released. The public is alarmed as there is recurring leopard movement in the residential areas.
