Local body election in tamilnadu turns out 73% amid pandemic – 10 Oct 2021

The second phase of polling to the local body election in tamilnadu for nine districts ended on Saturday with a 73.3% turnout.

The Polling went peaceful without any stray incidents and boycotts. The districts that faced the elections are Chengalpet, Kallakurichi, Kancheepuram, Ranipet, Tenkasi, Tirunelveli, Tirupathur, Vellore, and Villupuram. People who got tokens were allowed to vote after the time limit.

Villupuram 83.6% (Max)

kallakurichi 82%

Ranipet 75.3%

Thirupathur 73.5%

Kancheepuram 72%

Chengalpet 72%

Tenkasi 70%

Vellore68%

Tirunelveli 65% (Min)

The Rural body elections were conducted by the State Election commission of respective states. The slogan of the Tamilnadu State Election commission is “The power of people is the tower of the democracy”

The EVM (Electronic Voting Machine) for the rural body elections was first used in October 2011 election.
