Minister Piyush Goyal envisions India as future world textile leader at ATEXCON

The 11th Asian Textile Conference (ATEXCON) , being held in Coimbatore. inaugurated by the Chief Guest for the event, Piyush Goyal, Hon’ble Union Minister for Textiles. Other dignitaries present on the occasion included, Darshana Vikram Jardosh, Hon’ble Minister of State for Textiles & Railways, R. Gandhi, Hon’ble Minister for Handlooms and Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu, R. Sakkarapani, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, K. Annamalai, Tamil Nadu BJP Chief , Vanathi Srinivasan, BJP MLA from the Coimbatore South constituency and Ravi Sam, Chairman, SIMA.

Addressing the gathering on the occasion, Piyush Goyal lauded the efforts of the CITI and SIMA chairmen on the successful conduct of ATEXCON. The minister in his speech while pointing out to a key strength of India said that we are a country in the world where 2/3rd of our population is in the working age. He further added that in the 30 years, India will continue to have a young population, whose average age will be less than 30 years. He said that the country’s economy will grow from USD 300 billion to USD 35 trillion by 2047. He added that when our nation celebrates 100 years of independence, India will be a USD 35 trillion, developed nation.

In his address, Gandhi, Hon’ble Minister for Textiles, Government of Tamil Nadu said that we are in the process of enriching the textile policy the thrust is on encouraging the ecosystem for modernization, large scale investments in textile processing, recycled textile product manufacturing and achieving sustainability goals.

Sakkarapani, Hon’ble Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Government of Tamil Nadu said with Tamil Nadu being the leading state in manufacturing of textile and clothing products, the conference provides enormous opportunities for the textile industry.

Vanathi Srinivasan in her address said that the textile industry is the largest employer, especially for women and plays a key role in the growth of the nation. She added that the Hon’ble Prime Minister always gives special preference to this industry for its growth potential.

The BJP State President Chief, Annamalai said that the two day event will see many interesting sessions. He also wished the organizers all the best for the successful conduct of the event. Ravi Sam in his speech said that SIMA will be celebrating its 90th anniversary this year.
Earlier Rajkumar, CITI Chairman, welcomed the gathering.
