The grand finale of the ‘UYIR Road Safety Hackathon 2025‘ a key initiative under the Coimbatore Road Safety Model City Project, culminated in a vibrant award function on 9th February 2025 at 4.00 pm in Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology (SKCET). It is organized collaboratively by the Coimbatore District Administration, Coimbatore City Police and UYIR, an NGO dedicated to road safety, the event to celebrate innovative solutions for enhancing road safety.
Dr. S. Rajasekaran, Managing Trustee of UYIR welcomed the gathering with immense pleasure.
Smt. S. Malarvizhi, Managing Trustee and Chairperson, Sri Krishna Institutions and Trustee of UYIR, Project Incharge of the Hackathon, gave a brief introduction about the Hackathon. She emphasized the remarkable submission of 3263 innovative ideas for this flagship event and highlighted the transparency in the evaluation process.
Thiru M. Sivaguru Prabakaran, I.A.S., Commissioner, Coimbatore Corporation addressed the gathering and emphasized the importance of road safety.
Thiru A Saravana Sundar. IPS, Commissioner of Police, Coimbatore City addressed the gathering.
The event was graced by Thiru. Kranthi Kumar Pati, I.A.S., District Collector, Coimbatore, as the Guest of Honour. He appreciated the innovative contributions of students and professionals who participated in the hackathon, reinforcing Coimbatore’s commitment to becoming a model city for road safety.
Honourable Minister Thiru. V Senthil Balaji, Minister for Electricity and Prohibition & Excise, Government of Tamil Nadu, presided over the event as the Chief Guest. Addressing the gathering, he emphasized the critical need for collaborative efforts in road safety and lauded the participants for their groundbreaking ideas aimed at reducing accidents and promoting safe driving practices. He highlighted the initiatives taken by the Government of Tamil Nadu in laying of good roads in the city of Coimbatore. He assured that the innovative solutions and path breaking ideas proposed by the Hackathon participants will be taken to the notice of TN Government for necessary action for the betterment of the Society.
One of the key moments of the ceremony was the announcement of the winners in the professional and students category.
In Professional Category, the team from NexTurn secured the First Prize along with a cash award of ₹1 lakh. The Second Prize was awarded to the team from DromoLys Research & Development Pvt. Ltd., while the team from Intel/Dassault Systèmes, Bengaluru, earned the Third Prize.
In the student category, the team from St.Joseph’s Institute of Technology, Chennai, won the First Prize with a cash award of ₹1 lakh. The Second Prize went to the student team from Erode Sengunthar Engineering College, Perundurai, and the team from Dr. Mahalingam College of Engineering and Technology, Pollachi, received the Third Prize.
Additionally, 18 teams were recognized for their exceptional efforts and were awarded as the Best Projects.
Thiru T. Senthil Kumar, I.P.S., Inspector General of Police, West Zone, Thiru K. Karthikeyan, I.P.S., Superintendent of Police, Coimbatore District, Thiru N. Azhagarasu, Joint Transport Commissioner, Coimbatore Zone, Thiru. Sanjay Jayavarthanavelu, Chairman of UYIR, Dr. K. Sundararaman, CEO, Sri Krishna Institutions, Coimbatore graced this award function of the UYIR Road Safety Hackathon 2025 with their esteemed presence.
The vote of thanks was delivered by Dr. K. Porkumaran, Principal, Sri Krishna College of Engineering and Technology.
The event was successfully organized by the team from Uyir, Deans, Heads of Departments, faculty members, technical assistants, administrative staff and other team members.
