Nematode Awareness Training to Tribal Farmers

A training programme on “Nematode problems in crops and their management was conducted at Patchan vayal, Pudhupathi village, Narasipuram on 21-3-2017 under Tribal Sub Plan of All India Coordinated Research project on nematodes (AICRP), New Delhi functioning at the Department of Nematology, Tamil Nadu Agricultural University, Coimbatore.

Dr. Raman Kumar Walia, Project Coordinator (AICRP-N), introduced the role of plant parasitic nematodes causing yield reduction along with other pathogens.

Dr. K. Poornima, Scheme Incharge (AICRP-N) and Assistant Professors Dr. P. Kalaiarasan and Dr. N. Swarnakumari explained the nematode damages caused in different crops and their management using biopesticides. Farm inputs viz., biopesticides and farm tools were distributed to 30 tribal farmers.
