Coimbatore, Sep 23: PSG College of Arts and Science hosted a vibrant discussion program titled ‘New India,’ graced by the presence of Union Minister of Information and Broadcasting, Youth Affairs and Sports, Shri. Anurag Singh Thakur. The event took place on Saturday, with a focus on engaging students in meaningful conversations about the nation’s progress and the betterment of its citizens’ quality of life.
The program was presided over by the Managing Trustee of PSG & Sons Charities Shri. L. Gopalakrishnan. PSG College of Arts and Science Principal Dr. D. Brindha welcomed the gathering. Secretary Dr. T. Kannaiyan expressed gratitude to the Gathering.
Recognizing the significance of PSG Educational Institutions, Minister Anurag Singh Thakur commended them, saying, “PSG Institutions are imparting education to lakhs of students in Coimbatore. PSG Institutions are credited with producing the best leaders, scientists, and businessmen of the country.” His praise emphasized the role of educational institutions in nurturing future leaders and contributors to society.
Shifting his focus to the central government’s initiatives, Minister Anurag Singh Thakur highlighted, “The Central Government led by Prime Minister Modi is carrying out various welfare schemes for the welfare of women. Due to such welfare schemes, the country and the people are achieving great development.” He underscored the positive impact of these schemes on the nation’s progress, particularly benefiting the underprivileged.
Speaking about financial inclusion, he added, “In 2014, Prime Minister Modi offered the service of opening a bank account to all the people of the country. A total of 50 crore bank accounts have been opened, and now they are receiving welfare scheme assistance through them.” Minister Thakur also pointed out the remarkable expansion of household gas connections and the provision of financial support to girls through the various schemes.
Highlighting India’s digital transformation, he stated, “Everyone is doing digital money transactions through the Digital India project,” showcasing the country’s shift towards a digital economy.
The ‘New India’ debate event at PSG College of Arts and Sciences not only encouraged dialogue and critical thinking but also highlighted the importance of engaging the youth in shaping the future of the nation.
