Nirmala College all set to host Tanmillet Conclave 2023 on 7th & 8th Jan 2023
Coimbatore. Nirmala College is all set to host the Tanmillet Conclave in association with TanMillets, Coimbatore on the 7th&8th of January 2023. The year 2023 is celebrated as International Year of Millet under the auspices of UN and over 72 countries will gear up to have a lot of events to commemorate the year and India being the leading millet producing country will also witness events across the country.
Addressing the Press at the Press Club of Coimbatore, Dr. Krishnaveni, Coordinator – Entrepreneur Development Cell, (EDC) Nirmala College for Women, she said the next year will be a celebration of sorts with International Year of Millet as announced by UN. Nirmala is all set to commemorate the same with three events during the two days 7th & 8th of January 2023. The event will see a World record attempt of 555 valued added millet products, one expo wherein majorly millet and millet products will be exhibited and sold and an academic conference will also be held which will have deliberations on the millet economy, policy interventions and other industry best practices will be discussed.
Two State ministers; Thiru V Senthil Balaji, Honourable Minister for Electricity, Prohibition & Excise and Thiru R Sakkarapani, Honourable Minister for Food and Civil Supplies, Consumer Protection and Price Control have consented to be a part of the event at the invitation of the college. She also added that the District Collector and other dignitaries are being invited. It also happens to be the 75th Year of the college.
The event will get more students to participate and understand about the millets and thereby they can take the message across to their homes and from there to the society at large. This will also help budding entrepreneurs in the campus to see and look out for opportunities. At EDC it’s our endeavour to create more entrepreneurs in our campus and this event will play an important role.
Mr Sundar, CEO of Tanmillets, in his address said he was happy to associate with Nirmala College for this event and this will get more entrepreneurs a chance to exhibit their product and also connect with the market outside. The year 2023 will have a great start and the whole world will be looking to see what’s on offer and we are making the first move out of Coimbatore and we believe we have the answers for products in the 555 value added products that will be displayed as a part of the world record attempt.
He also added that this will be an opportunity for us to go back to our roots and have healthy food that our grandparents had. That will be a great tribute to the farmers too. With international exposure planned for this event we believe the market is wide open for the people participating in this event. We are looking to create more women entrepreneurs with this initiative.
The expo is expected to have over 10,000 people visiting from across the state during the two days.
He also added, the academic conference on the sidelines will also have very prominent dignitaries speaking on the millet ecosystem and also the way forward in marketing and the Govt interventions and subsidies will be discussed by the Govt representatives.
