The Union Minister’s claim that the nuclear fuel used in the reactor is not nuclear waste has raised many questions. The statement by Union Minister Jitendra Singh on the conservation of waste from the fourth reactor at the Kudankulam nuclear power plant has raised concerns.
Dr. Jitendra Singh, Union Minister of State for Personnel Welfare said that the waste from the third and fourth nuclear reactors to be set up at Kudankulam would be stored on the premises and no alternative site had been selected for storage.
It is noteworthy that the question of whether the government has any alternative plans to avoid storing the waste from the third and fourth reactors to be set up at Kudankulam on the same premises has been raised by many social activists.
