Ooty mountain train service canceled due to heavy rainfall

Southern Railway Administration has announced Mettupalayam-Ooty mountain train service has been canceled till December 7, 2021. There is a mountain train from Mettupalayam to Ooty in Coimbatore district.

During this period, the Nilgiris received continuous rains in the Coonoor Burliar and hills. Due to this, rocks fell on the mountain railway track between Kallar and Arterley railway stations on the 22nd of last month.

Those rocks were blasted and destroyed. However, the Southern Railway has announced that the Mettupalayam-Ooty hill train service will be canceled from the 23rd of this month until further notice due to the work being done to repair the track.

Due to continuous rains in the Nilgiris district, landslides have occurred on the Mettupalayam – Ooty hill railway line. Railway workers are working to rectify this. Therefore, the Southern Railway has announced that the Mettupalayam-Ooty and Ooty-Mettupalayam mountain train services will be canceled till November 30, 2021.

The Mettupalayam-Ooty mountain train service will be canceled till December 7, 2021, due to a landslide on the railway track.
