“Page to Planet: Narratives for Sustainable Life” a national level conference held at PSG CAS
Department of English (SF), PSG College of Arts & Science organized a one day National Level conference on “Page to Planet: Narratives for Sustainable Life” on 20-8-2024. The objective of the conference was to highlight how Literature throws light on the notion of sustainability of Life on the Planet.
The conference was presided by Dr D Brindha, Principal and felicitated by Dr T Kannaian, Secretary. Dr. Pramod K. Nayar, the UNESCO- CHAIR (Vulnerability Studies), University of Hyderabad and Dr. Devdutt Pattanaik, Mythologist, Author, Speaker & Illustrator from Mumbai were the resource persons for the conference.
The proceedings of the conference was released during the inaugural session by Dr Pramod K Nayar and Dr. Pattanaik released the first volume of the book with the research articles published by Orange books, an international publisher.
Dr Pramod K Nayar. delved into the depth of literature in public domain and in catalyzing meaningful change in the fight against climate change. By fostering a deeper understanding of the interconnectedness of life on Earth and literature, he emphasized on how literature can empower individuals and communities to change the earth’s future by understanding its impact.
Dr Pattanaik initiated his speech by realizing the importance of narratives in humanity’s history. He noted that they have been since time immemorial at the very heart of civilization among man.
