Coimbatore District Perur Prohibition Police Station is functioning in Pollachi. As the state of Kerala borders Tamil Nadu, most of the liquor bottles are smuggled from there to Pollachi. In addition, they buy low-priced bottles from Tasmac liquor stores, and some sell them illegally at high prices.
To prevent this, the Prohibition Police conducted an intensive vehicle search and kept the confiscated liquor bottles safely at the Prohibition Police Station. In this case, the Coimbatore District Collector ordered the destruction of the seized liquor bottles. Action was taken to destroy the liquor bottles on his orders.
Police brought the liquor in a truck to the government outpost at A. Sangampalayam next to Pollachi. Later, in the presence of Deputy Superintendent of Police Selvaraj, Divisional Excise Officer Vijayakumar and Tasmac Regional Manager Maharaj, they removed the lids of the liquor bottles and poured the liquor into the puddle.
According to the Prohibition Police, 10,446 smuggled liquor bottles were seized during the months of January, April, October, November and December. Its value will be Rs 14 lakh. These bottles were dumped on the ground and destroyed by order of the District Collector. Also the bottles were broken by the Bokline machine.
