Private Women Hostels should be registered in Coimbatore; says, Collector

Coimbatore Collector Dr GS Sameeran has announced that all private hostels in the Coimbatore district will have to register.

According to the Collector, “All hostels accommodating students, children’s homes, hostels for college girls, working women, paying guest accommodations and the like in Coimbatore district run by Government, NGOs, factories, private organisations, and religious organisations of any kind have to be registered as per the Tamil Nadu Women’s and Children’s Hostels and Homes Regulation Act.

Private working women’s hostels operating in the Coimbatore district without registration are advised to register under the District Social Welfare Office within 15 days by producing the relevant certificates.”This procedure helps to ensure women’s safety and to reduce the crime rate in the city.
